Advert

This is the travel through Plymouth animation that me, Jordan and Max did using After Effects and a D40 camera.

This is the advert me and Jordan produced for Blue lollipop.
No sound.

With sound (music).

I enjoyed creating this advert Jordan did all the work in after effects with me as his peer and editing some things when needed and I made all the graphics using Photoshop.

Research

Research of Artists.
Invader
This is a graffiti artist that uses the famous space invader characters from the classic game. This is a good inspiration for our advert because of the fact that we want to use 8 bit characters for the better feel of games. These characters are iconic all over the world and this artist has "tagged" all over the world, and on his website you can see what countries he has "tagged". He uses mosaic style to create the 8 bit look physically and then sticks them on spots of the city. When invader is in a city he takes two to three weeks of what he likes to call an invasion and tags all over town. This is a picture of what the site looks like it has all of information about the artist and upcoming events including all of his work.

This image is of a white styled space alien using the mosaic - 8 bit style and has put it under the warning sign. What I like about it is the colour scheme is different from original version of the space invader and I personally like the red eyes because it gives the character an evil sense. This character is used it lots of other places over the world but in different colours and different meanings sometimes for fun and humour but sometimes more serious and political.
This image also has a humorous sense to it because the the character in this one is made to look like a CCTV sign but in the style of 8 bit, again using mosaic. I like how this is displayed next to a shop as well making a joke of anyone you may steal from the shop which makes it more meaningful than some other work he has done.

Expermentation
8bit
Here i just did a quick little 8 bit character to see what it would look like in the final composition.

Vibrant colour (inspired by Atilgan Asikuzun

Here i did a little concept drawing trying to replicate the style of Atilgan Asikuzun.

Atilgan Asikuzun

I found this art work on cgsociety and it shows us what style of robot we want to do for our advert. This work uses a great use of warm and polluted colours of brown and yellow to give a rust look to the robot and the surrounding (desert). I also like the way he has used lighting and shading quite well by focusing the light on the robot and then having the shade covering the "creator" to have people recognize both aspects of the image, I think it might also be revealing the fact that the robot is born with light shining down on him and the man being the background and not as important. I also personally liked the smoke effect coming out the top of his head because its done really well and looks really realistic, smokey and thick. Atilgan does a lot of character designs and concept illustrations, he mainly uses Maya and Photoshop for his work and tries to concentrate on 2D artwork for animations and adverts.
This is another piece of art work by Atilgan, this is a lot different from the previous image. This has very vibrant colours and includes more nature into the art with colours of green, blue and red. The lighting and shading is used well to give the art depth by giving the hills and flowers shades on the side of them and light on the other side and also the block of sunlight covered by the tree and the effect of pollen and leafs coming off it.. I like the effect of calmness in the image and the simplicity of just a tree and some flowers made to be a well though landscape. The floating leafs shows the breeze in a summers day which makes it seem tranquil and calm. Relating this to my advert I will make my characters using vibrant colours and give them shadings on the sides of them to give them a bit more depth.

Blue Lollipop
This is advert is a good example of what my group want in our advert such as the monitors displaying different themes of software's and parts of the course and then moving on to the next part of our advert. This advert also shows what kind of colours and lighting and shading that work well and could be used in our advert if we choose to make a similar theme. From looking at this advert I need to look at ways to bring in and take away each image and animation just like this advert uses a platform which stretches out from a wall then sinks back when finished.

We took a look at a lot of different versions of motion graphics and different show reels to get inspiration for our advert. We wanted to concentrate on more dynamic ads and unique ads which seem to get a lot of attention. We also looked at some things to do with games through ages and also what age we should maybe concentrate on a certain era of games so we looked maybe new generation of games but we thought that it would be hard to make graphics to animate with such high quality designs in such a short time so we thought we would choose a era that was easy for creating graphics so we chose 8 bit graphics such as pac man, tetris, space invaders etc. this makes it much easier to think of ideas a simple graphics to use in our ad.

Hertfordshire University

On the Hertfordshire University website they promote them self by having big encouraging phrases - such as, 'you can have it all'. Furthermore, they'll change as you highlight different parts of the website. By doing this it motivates the audience and tempts them to what the could potentially achieve for them self by attending this University.
Mind map for idea.

Questions. Research answers.
Question 1.
People who I had take my questionnaire new kind of what art was included in games so for some they didn't really know exactly what type so I will include flash game, character design etc. They also didn't seem to know what sort of software used in game arts so i will include that in my advert.
Question 2.
Most of the answers where that they never did look at the adverts on buses and looked out the window or listen to music so this is why we need to make something that will draw the audiences attention and make them notice the advert by doing this we will need to make bright vibrant colours and fast animations and interesting animations.
Question 3
Most of the answers where that they had a general idea but I knew that I could expand on what they knew and I will show in depth more aspects of interactive media.
Question 4
Most of the answers where that they didn't have TV adverts on their buses which means that most people will recognize the advert when on the bus because it will appear new on their bus.
Question 5
Most of the answers where yes they do take the bus so i know that a lot of people will notice the advert.
Question 6
Most people said that they didn't like taking the bus so i think with a entertaining advert they may enjoy it a bit more.
Question 7
Most people said they didn't know what blue lollipop was so I need to find a way to advertise more.
Question 8
Most people said that they didn't know what qualification PCA has so I should maybe try to include what you achieve in our course.
Question 9
Most people said they would like some courses to be advertised which is good to know that they would be interested.
Question 10
People said that they wanted something catoonised or very arty and some said just basic templates so i will take this into consideration.

Using After Effects

Basics.
Importing Movie clips.
To import file I click on file>import>file and choose the file I want and if you have more than one file I want to click import>multiple files.

Now I have the clip I have the I want I put them into folders by clicking the the create new folder button underneath the project box. To make anything on After effects first I need to Make a composition I do this by selecting Composition>New Composition. And then I selected a preset that allows me to change the size and resolution of my Composition I chose HDTV 720p which was a good size.

Now I have my Composition I can drag my movie into the black box which will automatically put my clip in the composition box at the bottom where I can edit  the timeline to what I wish. I can preview my clip by clicking the play button on the right side and then I will start to see a green bar which mean its buffering/rendering my clip. For further editing I can add effects and text and extra images.

Effects on images.
The effect I'm going to show is a colour correction>Hue and Saturation once I chose this with my image in the Composition.

Once I selected the effect I clicked on the colourise button to give me the option below. Now I can toggle the timer button which allows me to set a point on the timeline and then it will record anything changed from behind that point so now I will change the colourise hue to green.

Now here I've made several points with the timer and changed the hue each time so when I play it, it'll gradually change in colour.

This a video of me just messing around with the effects.

Creating 3D Text animation.

To do a text animation first I needed to know the basics of key frames and null. I started of selecting my background and adding key frames for opacity and scale.

Here I'm adding key frames on the first and 15 second mark and changing the second mark to the opacity of one hundred and then giving some space between before adding the same set of key frames again but the opposite way round. I'm also adding the same amount of key frames in the same position on scale and I'm increasing the scale then doing the opposite again after leaving a gap.

Now I'm adding text and giving it the exact same key frames as the background making the text look like it is appearing the same as the background.

Here I have started to create my own personal 3D text animation. First I selected my arrow and flourish movie clip and positioned them where I wanted them to be. Then I added a Null which is a parent that allows everything selected to it to follow it like a group.

Now with everything I want selected to the Null I began to rotate on key frames to allow it to rotate a full 360 back to its original place. With that done I began to  work on how to make the text enter the stage.

What I decided to do is move the Null above the stage on one key frame and then on one the  frames near the end of the timeline I made a key frame and dragged down the Null positioning everything where it originally was. the one problem I had was moving the two arrows because I did not assign them to the Null so I had to individually move them to the correct position which became frustrating I hope to learn how an easier way for this.

This is my final outcome.

Lens Flare Text.
First off I made a new composition and then right clicked beside the composition and clicked new>solid.
Next I go to effects and choose a lens flare and changed the lens flare type to 105mm prime.
Next I add a text and also add a mask to go over the text to cover it. This will allow me to move the mask so it'll look like the light is shining and revealing the text.
Here I've added subtract to the mask so it'll fade a bit more so it looks more like the light is revealing the text.
Now I've began to add key frames and on each key frame I've moved the lens flare and added more brightness and as it I move it round more I start adding more brightness and then as I move it back to the beginning I start to lower the brightness again.
Here I've added a stencil luma to make it look more realistic and like the text is being shown only when the light hits it and I am then able to add images so the image is in the text.

My two final outcomes. The second video is of me just trying out over filters and effects. I tried to use a lightning effect instead of the lens flare.

3D picture montage.
This is how I did a moving 3D picture montage on after effects it mostly includes cameras and a lot of adjusting. I used many different layers and two compositions one holding picture layers and the other for the camera. I made all the picture layers 3d so I could have them behind each other for the 3d effect.
